Before We Give, We Receive | One-Minute Homily
Sometimes we feel more comfortable giving gifts rather than receiving them. Hunter D'Armond, SJ, reflects on Mary and how we need to humbly receive God's grace before we are able to give to others.

#12thSundayofOrdinaryTime
On this Twelfth Sunday in Ordinary Time, Jesus tells his disciples: “Fear no one.” They should “fear no one” in carrying out their mission to proclaim the Good News. They will face persecutions because of it,
yes—but the Father, who has power over life and death, will guard them even in their suffering.
“So, do not be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows,” Jesus assures his disciples. God thinks of us. God cares for us. God loves us.
Brothers and sisters let us not hesitate to proclaim the Gospel!

2020.12.20 - Fourth Sunday of Advent (Luke 1:26-38)
Mary is the first disciple because she said "yes" to God's invitation to love. In what ways do we trust that God has found favor with us? How do we say "yes" to God with our lives? For nothing is impossible with God.

God doesn't choose the way we would. God chooses worldly weakness to proclaim divine power. That's the reason Mary was chosen and the reason we have been chosen.

The Gospel in Two Minutes - Sunday, December 20, 2020 (The Fourth Sunday of Advent)
(A classroom prayer service can be found below) Whether it's a book, a TV show, or a movie, you find two different sorts of heroes. Some go looking for adventure, while others are a little more cautious (and sometimes fearful) to play their part in the story. Scripture is no different. Some of those whom God calls are hesitant to answer while others, like Mary, give a whole hearted yes (as we hear in this Sunday's Gospel.)
