  • You Welcomed Me by Tom Booth

Tom Booth was inspired by his friends who were working to welcome persecuted Catholics around the world into the United States. Spirit & Liturgy Podcast

October 25, 2020

"You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment. The second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself."

God is love. Jesus is the incarnation of love. Salvation for us is being transformed into love through the action of the Holy Spirit.

Responsorial Psalm

Psalm 18: I love You, Lord, my Strength (Manibusan)
Psalm 18: I love You, Lord, my Strength (Manibusan)
VIDEO: At first, that text sounds like it calls for a driving, upbeat and powerful approach. That approach is valid, and there are other solid musical settings of this text that go that route. But here’s the thing. This slower and flowing setting takes a super important approach, one that I think many people overlook. And honestly, it gave me an important reminder, too. Strength is always powerful, but strength doesn’t always “look” powerful. Often, the strength God provides for us is more of a quiet strength. A gentle strength. The strength of heart that we need to move forward. Strength is perseverance. Strength is what we need to push through in tough circumstances. God is our strength! He delivers us, and He gives us what we need to push through and stand firm. He also gives us refuge—He shields us and reassures us that He is there and He will bring us good things even in hard times.
