History
Remnant TV’s new series, “Catholic Heroes and Holy Days”, kicks off with the Feast of the Epiphany — the manifestation of Christ, not just to the three kings, but to the whole world.
Liturgy
Whereas Lutherans, for the most part, follow the same cycle of Lectionary readings as Catholics, they and other denominations which use the Revised Common Lectionary do not refer to the Sundays following Epiphany up until the beginning of Lent (February 26, 2020) as “Sundays of Ordinary Time” like Catholics. Instead, they refer to “Sundays after the Epiphany.”
Rev. James Kubicki, S.J.

Bible Study
Exile is one of the core, yet often overlooked, themes underlying the entire Biblical storyline. In this video, we’ll see how Israel’s exile to Babylon is a picture of all humanity’s exile from Eden. As you might guess, Jesus is the one to open the way back home.
Faith
Light of God, Light of Christ, and Light within, are related phrases commonly used within the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) as “the real presence of Christ” within, which of course is a phrase which Catholics use for the Eucharist. As the light shines in the darkness upon them, they walk by the light—just as the magi followed the light shining from the star.
Judaism
A Jewish understanding of and perspective on the First Reading at Sunday Mass can be quite enlightening. Lise Rosenthal from Temple Beth Israel, Fresno comments on the First Reading (Isaiah 60: 1-6) for the Feast of the Epiphany of the Lord

Jeff Cavins explains how—just as the Magi were drawn to Christ—people from around the world are drawn to the gospel when we live it authentically. He talks about the recent visit of Pope Francis to the United States, and how that attracted the world’s attention.

In this video, which is an excerpt from The Mass Readings Explained for the Epiphany of the Lord, Dr. Pitre discusses the background to the wise men as found in the Gospel of Matthew 2, what the wise men were in pursuit of, and part of why they were headed to Bethlehem specifically.
Bible Study
Luke and Matthew’s gospels seem to contradict each other on whether or not the magi came to Jesus’ birth. Trent Horn breaks down the story of the magi and explains why this isn’t a reason to discredit the gospels.

Why did the three wise men (magi) give Jesus gold, frankincense, and myrrh? What is the significance of this story in the Gospels? The song, We Three Kings, describes the meaning of each gift, but is it correct?
History
The story of the nativity is actually a blend of both the gospels of Luke and Matthew. They reveal the significance of the gifts carried by the three kings, as well as clues to their origins and symbolism.
