An aid for meditation while praying the Rosary. The first Luminous Mystery is The Baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist in the River Jordan. John had been calling all to repent of their sins and be baptized. He was preparing the people for the coming of Christ. He said, “I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, ‘Make straight the way of the Lord,’ as the prophet Isaiah said.” Thus, John prepares the way. So when Jesus was ready to begin his public ministry, he comes to John to be baptized.

Matthew 3:16-17
And when Jesus was baptized, he went up immediately from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and alighting on him; and lo, a voice from heaven, saying, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”
